  1. Awesome.
And you brought to memory Laika. I was reading about her story and was absolutely gutted. Russians!

  2. I can't think of Valentina Tereshkova without thinking of my sister-in-law's mother. My daughter and I were visiting with my brother and his family when Natalia's mother came for a visit as well. The Kid and I were heading into DC to see some museums and my sister-in-law asked if we would take her mom with us. Of course! The woman spoke virtually no English and we spoke no Ukrainian so... this would be fun. We got to the Air and Space Museum and she exclaimed over and over, 'Tereshkova! Tereshkova!' pointing and smiling. We nodded and agreed, how could we not!? In the end we discovered that we both knew a fair amount of botanical Latin and were able to communicate by describing things. A cherished memory, for sure. Thank you, Cosmonaut for your service!
