English jazz singer and musical theatre star known for her scat singing;
her international recording career also involved collaborating with
many of the pre-eminent singers and musicians of her time;
her many awards and honours included being made a
Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (1997).

I adored since I was very young. For me there was something other-worldly about her voice and her style.
ReplyDeleteMy friend Lisa's parents were British and I heard Ms Laine at their house when we were kids. Such style!
