Curie literally gave her life to science! She died of radiation-induced leukemia. Her death ushered in new efforts to protect radiation researchers and workers. Years before her death, she understood the many of risks she was taking while working with radioactive materials. She protested against many of the super-dangerous "medical" products on the market...people were ingesting radioactive materials BECAUSE they believed in the curative powers these things!!
A brilliant scientist. I am so glad that she had the opportunity to study and research.
