Zora Neale Hurston


Zora Neale Hurston (1891 - 1960)
American writer, anthropologist, folklorist, and documentary filmmaker;
a central figure of the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and 1930s;
her most famous novel is Their Eyes Were Watching God (1937).

  3. Poor Zora, later in life she returned to Florida and worked as a maid, dying in obscurity after a stroke. Alice Walker was responsible for finding her unmarked grave (1978) and erecting a marker in her honor.
