Ella Fitzgerald (1917 - 1996)
American singer, songwriter and composer
called the "First Lady of Song" and the "Queen of Jazz";
first African-American woman to win a Grammy Award;
her accolades included 14 Grammy Awards, the National Medal of Arts,
the NAACP's inaugural President's Award, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
She is my FAVORITE!!!!

ReplyDeleteShe was the best. I remember seeing her and Louis Armstrong in person when I was a teenager. Very memorable!
