The history of Blues and rock and roll owe a debt of gratitude to this amazing woman. I'm so glad someone put a guitar in her hands!
ReplyDeleteRock owes a lot to gospel, maybe even more than it owes to the blues.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a massive influence on 50's Rock'n'Roll. Chuck Berry said “My whole career has been one long Sister Rosetta Tharpe impersonation.”
ReplyDelete@ LL Cool Joe -- What a great quotation! Thanks for that info!
