Sister Rosetta Tharpe


Sister Rosetta Tharpe (1915 - 1973)
American singer (gospel, rhythm-and-blues,
rock-and-roll), songwriter and electric guitar pioneer;
known as "the original soul sister" and 
"the Godmother of rock and roll;"
posthumous inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
as an "Early Influence" (2018).

  3. Definitely a massive influence on 50's Rock'n'Roll. Chuck Berry said “My whole career has been one long Sister Rosetta Tharpe impersonation.”
