American comedian, actor, producer, writer, and television host;
a pioneer of women in comedy;
recipient of an Emmy and a Grammy;
inductee of the Television Academy Hall of Fame (2017).

  1. 💔 Oh! How I miss her ability to skewer people who needed to be skewered! As with many female comedians, she started with traditional "women's issues" (husbands, childbirth) before she could branch out into universal topics. But, I still remember the first joke of her's I ever laughed at. She was riffing on childbirth and how you need to find the best care you can afford..."so while I was in the maternity ward at Joe's Hospital and Grill..." I just love juxtaposition jokes and Joan taught me why they're are surprising and funny! 🤣
